INDUSTRY USE CASES

Who Is Our Technology For?

Many situations vital for our society’s function require remote work in variously exposed environments. And even when working in teams, one can be out of each other’s sight over long durations. So, when incident happens, seconds counts. That is why customers in forestry, transportation, agriculture, constructions, logistics, harbours, and several others have chosen Swanholm Technology’s integrated, easy-to-use technology, built for a world where every worker returns home safely.

THE PROBLEM

What If No One Sees the Fall?

€550B Annual Cost

Workplace injuries and diseases cost 3.3% of EU’s GDP each year

Millions Injured

~3,300 fatal, ~2.8 million non-fatal workplace accidents annually

Slips, Trips & Falls

are the 2nd leading cause of workplace accidents

Golden Hour

Treatment within the first hour after trauma can reduce mortality by ~45%

When an accident happens, the biggest delay is often a lack of awareness.

In many industrial environments, incidents happen out of sight. Workers may be alone, supervisors may be far away, and critical moments can be lost before anyone realizes something is wrong. This delay creates what we call the Safety Detection Gap.

Across the EU, a serious workplace accident occurs every 15 seconds, with falls accounting for around 33% of incidents. Traditional personal protective equipment improves visibility and protection, but it cannot detect when an accident occurs or trigger a response. Modern fall detection wearable devices aim to close this gap by detecting incidents automatically.

The time between an incident and when someone becomes aware of it remains one of the biggest weaknesses in workplace safety. For lone and remote workers, shortening that detection gap can dramatically reduce the consequences of an accident and, in many cases, save lives.

FAQ

Common Questions

What happens if a worker is in an area with no mobile signal?

If there is no mobile signal, the system cannot immediately send an alarm. In these situations, workers can use the Timer Alarm feature. The worker sets a timer before entering the low-signal area and can include information about their location and planned activity in the app. If the worker does not cancel the timer before it expires, the alarm will automatically trigger and notify the selected contacts.

The fall detection system has been tested to achieve approximately 95% accuracy. Testing was conducted using professional stunt performers as well as human-like test dummies to simulate real workplace fall scenarios and ensure reliable detection under realistic conditions. A demonstration of the testing process can be seen here:

Yes. In addition to fall detection, the Alert Vest 1 can detect certain movement patterns. For example, it can recognize when a worker enters or exits a truck, automatically turning the vest’s lights on or off. This feature requires a specific motion sequence and at least two steps to activate correctly. See the feature in action:

If an alarm is triggered unintentionally, the worker has 30 seconds to cancel the alarm directly in the Swanholm Sense App before notifications are sent to emergency contacts.

Setup is quick and straightforward. Each device can typically be configured in just a few minutes, allowing teams to deploy the system with minimal downtime.

Yes. The vest is designed for demanding work environments and has been tested for at least 25 wash cycles at 40°C. Before washing, the Swanholm Sense Collar must be removed. Once removed, the vest can be safely washed like standard workwear.

Under normal working conditions, the battery lasts up to 5 days on a single charge. In colder environments, battery performance may be slightly reduced.

Updates are delivered through the Swanholm Sense App. When an update is available, users will receive a notification. Simply connect the device with a USB-C cable and follow the instructions in the app. A full update typically takes about one minute.

Yes. Companies can arrange a product demonstration to see how the system works in practice. For on-site trials, we recommend starting with 3–10 vests and testing them within the team for about a month before scaling up.
