When AA Logistik in Västerås, Sweden, expanded, new routines were required regarding the safety of the lone warehouse workers. One of the solutions was the Swanholm Alert Vest – a high-visibility vest that automatically triggers an alarm in the event of a fall accident.
The Västerås-based company AA Logistik has expanded its warehouse space with several new premises scattered throughout the city. Expansion has come with new challenges. On-call workers who go out alone in the middle of the night are more the rule than the exception, and working alone with large packages always involves a risk of accidents.
To improve safety when working alone, a high-visibility vest with so-called smart solutions is used. According to the company behind the vest, Swanholm Technology, the vest detects if the user falls and stays lying down. In the event of an incident, a contact person is alerted, who can then contact 112. There are also buttons in the vest that allow the user to raise the alarm themselves. The vest also has a built-in timer, which can be used when working in hazardous environments. The functions control the user with an app in their phone.
Swanholm Technology, that has received feedback from AA Logistik, is now working on further developing both the app and a jacket with the same functions as the vest.
